About

Artist´s Stetment

I hand-build abstract pieces. My creative process is intuitive, and I organized my pieces in a series, which expresses my process of exploration: Seeds, Habitats, Circles, Ensembles, Shadows.

My sculptures honor my fascination with clay´s malleability and tactile quality; it invites me to release my inner filters. When I first connect with raw clay, I follow my flow and honor the clay’s calling. I let my pieces happen by playing with gravity, plasticity, shapes, and textures. I find the creative process intriguing because of the unpredictable nature of working with clay.

When the shape appears before my eyes, I view it with wonder. Then I ask myself: how can I finish it so as to enhance its essence? Should I reveal its natural beauty by leaving the surface bare or should I add to it by applying glaze, oxides, patinas, acrylic paint, terra sigillata and/or wax?
